Our Neighborhood
The Piney Woods School is located in rural Rankin County Mississippi, approximately, 23 miles south of the capital city of Jackson, and approximately 10 miles north of Mendenhall, the county seat of Simpson County.
Our nearby airport Jackson-Evers International Airport is approximately 26 miles north east of The Piney Woods School in Pearl. Pearl offers a variety of shopping, movie theatre, fine dining, comfortable hotels and inns. The Amtrak train and Greyhound bus station are located in Jackson.
In the town of Florence, we have several gas stations, a Dollar General Store, a Krystal’s, and a Waffle House, just to name a few of the attractions: this town is approximately 13 miles north of The Piney Woods School.
In the town of Richland, which is approximately 20 miles north of the school, is a Wal-Mart, three motels, and fast foods entities such as: Captain’s D, McDonalds, Taco Bell. Popeye’s Chicken, Wendy’s, Dairy Queen and Burger King, just to name a few, with several gas stations and three drug stores.
South of Piney Woods School, we have the towns of Braxton, D’Lo, Mendenhall and Magee. Magee is the only town that offers a variety of shopping/eating establishments.
