Welcome to The Piney Woods School, where we are
changing America, and the world, one student at a time. Our 2,000-acre campus,
which is filled with lakes and trees, draws each visitor into the wonderfully
powerful experience that is The Piney Woods School.
Our mission is to provide excellence in education within a Christian
environment through the creation of an exceptional academic model which supports
the tenet that all students can learn, develop a strong work ethic, and lead
extraordinary lives through academic achievement and responsible citizenship. As
an interdenominational Christian school, we affirm the values of faith,
discipline, excellence, and service. |
The Piney Woods School is the flagship of the four remaining historically
African-American boarding schools in the United States. With thousands of alumni
who have come from all over the United States and the world, The Piney Woods
School has been a hallmark of excellence in its 98-year history. Our alums have
attended Princeton, Smith, Harvard, Howard, Hampton, Tuskegee, Florida A&M,
and many of the country’s other outstanding public and private colleges and
universities. They have pursued degrees in medicine, law, marketing, education,
administration, and the arts and have become leaders in their respective
fields.
We have been challenged with a great mission: to continue to fulfill the
legacy began almost 100 years ago by Dr. Laurence Jones and to continue to train
young men and women leaders who are:

proficient
• Globally perceptive
But most of all, we are challenged to train leaders who have hearts that are
full of compassion, energy, and faith.
