Ezana Demissie

Ezana Demissie, a 2007 graduate of The Piney Woods School was named STAR student and received the highest score on the math portion of the ACT. He later earned a full scholarship to study chemistry at Jackson State University.

Demissie earned his degree from Jackson State University and is currently attending Harvard Medical School on a full scholarship to pursue his dream of becoming an immunologist.

He has also been an active member of the student-affiliate chapters of the American Chemical Society and the National Organization for Professional Advancement of Black Chemists, where he served as president during 2009-2010. Demissie also was awarded Best Chemistry Student in 2008. 2009, and 2010; the John A. Peoples Scholarship Award; the Soon and Kay Roh Scholarship, and the American Deli Scholarship.
