Student Support Services

Student Health Services
The daily management of the health and wellness of our students is the first priority of the Health Services Department. The school nurse and staff physician attend to the daily health care needs of the student body and coordinate wellness/preventive programs. The school nurse coordinates the annual Health Fair, Pounds Off Challenge, Blood Drives and fundraisers for juvenile diabetes and sickle cell.

School Counselor (Non-Academic)
The School Counselor is charged with the awesome responsibility of assisting students in meeting the challenges of adolescence and everyday life. The School Counselor attends to the social and emotional needs of our students. Programs coordinated by the School Counselor include Abstinence Training, Peer Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Life Skills Training.

Career/Placement Services
The Career/Placement Services Office coordinates career, college and community service activities for all students at The Piney Woods School. The director plans our annual on-campus College Fair, facilitates the students’ travel to other in-state and out-of-state college fairs, oversees the college application process for all seniors, and facilitates various workshops on issues vital to college preparation and career choices.

Department of Student Activities
The Department of Student Activities continues to meet the recreational and leisure time needs of the students at The Piney Woods School. This goal is achieved through the coordination of activities designed to satisfy a diverse student body. These activities include but are not limited to intramural sports, dances, dramatic plays, ballet and operatic performances, shopping trips, movies, dances and the Snack Bar and Grill.

Christian Education
The mission of the Christian Education program at The Piney Woods School is to deepen the understanding of the word of God. The Christian Education program is focused on three primary areas: Sunday School, Worship Service and Bible Study. Non-denominational Sunday School and Worship services are held each week when school is in session. Bible Study is held every Monday evening and is open to all students. A brief Devotion Service is held each morning during homeroom.
