Community Comes to Piney Woods

This summer, The Piney Woods School welcomed boards, organizations, camps, and families to experience a campus where history, agriculture, education, and community come together.

Our rich legacy, historic buildings, expansive grounds, and working farm, Piney Woods offers visitors more than a meeting place. It provides an environment where groups can gather, learn, connect, and experience the school’s mission firsthand.

Among this summer’s guests were participants in the Kappa Summer Camp, who spent time on campus engaging with the Piney Woods environment. The school also welcomed the Woodard Family Reunion, whose visit included a tour of the grounds and an opportunity to experience life on the farm. These gatherings allowed guests to explore the beauty and history of Piney Woods while creating meaningful memories together.

The summer also brought a new addition to farm life through our community relationship with Varner Farms. The donation of goats expanded the farm experience and will provide another opportunity for learners and visitors to engage with agriculture on campus. We are grateful to State Representative Lance Varner and Varner Farms for supporting the continued growth of the Piney Woods farm.

Each visit reflects the many ways our campus can serve as a place for connection. From board meetings and organizational gatherings to family reunions, campus tours, and farm experiences, Piney Woods offers a distinctive setting surrounded by history, natural beauty, and purpose.

As we conclude a busy summer and prepare to welcome learners back for the new school year, we are grateful for every group and family that chose to spend time with us.
