Student Agriculture Experience
At Piney Woods, student involvement is a cornerstone of our community. Our immersive programs invite students to engage hands-on with every aspect of our 250-acre working farm—from caring for animals to cultivating crops in our greenhouses—fostering practical skills, environmental awareness, and a deep connection to sustainable agriculture.

From Farm to Market: Students Harvest and Sell Fresh Produce
This fall, our learners rolled up their sleeves and immersed themselves in the hands-on experience of harvesting fresh produce from our campus farm. With care and dedication, they gathered eggplant, okra, peppers, and vibrant flowers—each grown through sustainable farming practices that reflect our commitment to agricultural education.
Beyond the harvest, students took their learning a step further by selling their produce at the Piney Woods Farmers Market. This opportunity not only deepened their understanding of farm-to-table food systems but also taught valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, responsibility, and community engagement. Through these experiences, our students are developing the skills and knowledge to be stewards of the land while embracing the spirit of self-sufficiency and innovation.

From Hive to Home: Student-Made Soaps & Candles Using Piney Woods Harvest
Our learners had the unique opportunity to use honey harvested from our on-campus beehives, along with other natural ingredients from our farm, to create handcrafted soaps and candles. Through this hands-on experience, they not only developed valuable skills in sustainable product creation but also deepened their understanding of agriculture, environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship.
