At The Piney Woods School, agriculture is more than a subject. It’s a legacy and a vibrant learning ecosystem. Our 250-acre farm, anchored by five modern greenhouses, embodies the perfect blend of tradition and innovation, where students cultivate fresh produce using sustainable, hands-on methods.
From Tunnel Houses to Farm-to-Table
Our tunnel houses serve as controlled-environment nurseries, nurturing everything from tender seedlings to robust harvest-ready crops. They empower students to experiment with planting cycles and witness firsthand what it takes to bring food from soil to table. And when students consume their own produce in the campus dining hall, they establish healthy habits that last a lifetime.
Student-Led Farmers Market & CSA
Under the banner of the Piney Woods Fresh Farmers Market, our students shine. Every week, they manage a bustling market stand brimming with homegrown fruits, colorful flowers, and seasonal vegetables. This initiative stems directly from our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program where students aren’t just growing produce; they’re leading business operations, building community, and embracing sustainability.
Coming Soon: A Farm Subscription Service
We’re excited to introduce a subscription box delivering fresh, student-grown produce right to your door. Starting at $25/week ($30 bi-weekly or $40 monthly), this program invites families and supporters to invest in fresh, sustainably grown produce and student-driven agriculture.
Hands-On Learning that Lasts
Beyond growing vegetables, our farm is a dynamic classroom. Students engage in planting, harvesting, and conducting sustainability workshops that promote regenerative farming practices. It’s an immersive, earth-first education nurturing environmental stewardship, food literacy, and agricultural leadership.
Why It Matters
Education through action: Students don’t just learn concepts. They live them!
Leadership in every wheelbarrow: From creating business plans to marketing, students are actively engaged in activities that promote creative thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Rooted in mission: The farm reinforces our values of faith, service, self-reliance, and stewardship, while providing fresh, locally grown produce to our community.
At Piney Woods, the farm is a living promise of growth, learning, and purpose. Want to join us in this immersive experience? Visit our school, shop at our market, or subscribe to have a piece of our harvest delivered. Every seed sown here cultivates tomorrow’s leaders.
