From Summer Harvest to a New School Year at Piney Woods

Summer has brought vibrant growth across the Piney Woods farm. Rows of sunflowers and colorful blooms have transformed the landscape, while blackberries, tomatoes, and watermelons have provided a plentiful seasonal harvest.

The farm is more than a place where crops grow—it is an extension of the Piney Woods learning experience. Throughout the school year, learners have opportunities to connect classroom instruction with the land, developing practical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of agriculture, responsibility, and stewardship.

This summer’s harvest reflects the care and preparation invested throughout the growing season. From berries gathered by hand to watermelons filling the bed of a farm truck, each crop represents the patience, teamwork, and consistency required to bring food from the field to harvest.

As summer comes to a close, the farm is also preparing for the return of our learners. Soon, they will once again have the opportunity to explore the land, participate in hands-on agricultural experiences, and learn through the Piney Woods philosophy that our campus is our classroom and our lands are our labs.

The season may be changing, but growth at Piney Woods continues—in our fields, across our campus, and in the learners preparing to return for another year of discovery and purpose.
