Kelsey Minor is a powerful example of how a Piney Woods education prepares students to step confidently into the world and lead with purpose. An Emmy Award–winning editor, writer, and multimedia specialist, Kelsey has built a dynamic career across digital media, television, and radio—using storytelling to inform, inspire, and elevate diverse voices.
Currently, Kelsey serves as Editor & Writer of his self-published digital magazine, Minor Threads, where he explores culture, identity, and storytelling through a thoughtful and contemporary lens. He is also a writer for CBS News, contributing impactful journalism that reaches national audiences. Through his work with CBS News Radio, Kelsey delivers compelling news stories to more than 200 radio stations nationwide, engaging millions of listeners and viewers across CBS News’ digital and social platforms.
Kelsey’s reporting portfolio includes exclusive interviews with prominent leaders such as Beto O’Rourke and U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, reflecting his ability to ask meaningful questions and connect audiences to the issues shaping our world.
Throughout his career, Kelsey has held editorial and leadership roles at some of the country’s most influential media organizations. As an Editor & Writer at Q. Digital, he oversaw freelance contributors for Queerty and Native Son, while developing high-engagement content centered on culture, equity, and community. He has also contributed to notable outlets including The Grio, Shondaland.com, and Senior Executive Media, covering topics ranging from entertainment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Kelsey’s experience extends into broadcast journalism, where his work with NBCUniversal’s MSNBC Weekends supported the success of the network’s top-rated morning show. Earlier in his career, he wrote and produced content for Fox News Channel and served as an anchor and reporter for News 12 Networks, further strengthening his foundation in multimedia storytelling.
Beyond traditional journalism, Kelsey continues to innovate as a digital creator. As a content producer for NOD Media, he develops creative campaigns and social media content for major brands. His independent Instagram interview series, Kelsey Convos, has reached more than 12,000 viewers, featuring high-profile guests and thoughtful conversations that resonate across platforms.
A graduate of Columbia College Chicago, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Kelsey brings expertise in SEO strategy, audience engagement, video production, and editorial leadership. He is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His work has been recognized with multiple Emmy Awards and an Iowa Broadcast Association Award for Reporting.
